Point would

A: I saw him doing something.
B: OK.
A: So I couldn’t help asking him what he was doing.

I saw him. He was doing something
I asked him what he was doing.

1. I heard her. She was crying.
I consoled her.

2. I found a man. The man was lying on a street.
I called the police.

3. I saw my friend. My friend was overdrinking again.
I stopped him.

4. I felt somebody. Somebody was watching me.
I bought a blind.

5. I heard my neighbor. My neighbor was shouting.
I complained to him.

   「人が~しているのを見る」
I saw them smiling.

can’t help ~ing
   「~せざるを得ない」「つい~してしまう」
I can’t help thinking. つい考えてしまう
*動詞はingです。

1. I heard her crying. So I couldn’t help consoling her.
2. I found a man lying on a street. So I couldn’t help calling the police.
3. I saw my friend overdrinking again. So I couldn’t help stopping him.
4. I felt somebody watching me. So I couldn’t help buying a blind.
